Industrial 4.0 Workshop and Special Issue
The International Workshop on Digital Design and Manufacturing Technologies:
Embracing Industry 4.0 and Beyond
Aims: The aims of the workshop are to provide a forum for scientists, engineers, scholars and students to exchange ideas and update technical knowledge, as well as to provide a platform where joint research pro-grammes can be formulated for mutual benefit. The workshop welcomes participations and contributions from those involved in both theoretical research and practical applications of all aspects of digital design and manufacturing technologies for manufacturing innovation.
The workshop welcomes the submission of papers in the nature of original research and technical review from following, but not limited to, areas:
- New manufacturing business models for embracing Industry 4.0
- Autonomous manufacturing and robots
- Crowdsourced manufacturing and product innovation
- Smart productions
- Mass customization and additive manufacturing
- Knowledge-based automation and big data
- Smart tooling, smart machines and smart manufacturing
- IoT and wireless manufacturing
- Experience-driven customer services and product supports
- Big system modelling, simulation and understanding crossing value chains
- Game and augmented reality technologies for manufacturing
- System integration
- Virtual machines and virtual manufacturing
- Cloud based production
- e-Design and e-Manufacturing
Call for papers:

The initial accepted papers will be presented at the workshop and the revised versions are invited to submit to the Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering (CJME) for an Special Issue scheduled in January 2017.
Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering Special Issue on Future Digital Design and Manufacturing Technologies for Manufacturing Innovation: Embracing Industry 4.0 and Beyond
Aims: The aim of collating this special issue is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to review the recent developments, and to identify possible directions for further developments. Original contributions should discuss the development and application of digital, smart and intelligent technologies in manufacturing environments, and emphasis will be on the knowledge and insights accumulated so far, and also on opportunities and implications for the future.
Possible topics, within this scope, include but are not limited to:
- New manufacturing business models for embracing Industry 4.0
- Autonomous manufacturing and robots
- Crowdsourced manufacturing and product innovation
- Smart products/systems
- Mass customization and additive manufacturing
